Video Editor
The role
We are looking for a Video Editor to join Axtan Capital’s creative team and work on content across our channels and brands.
You will edit long-form YouTube videos, short-form social content, and other digital formats. Your work will cover editing and post-production, including footage selection, narrative structure, sound, colour correction, motion graphics, and final exports.
I. The standard
A good edit should make the subject easy to follow and give the viewer a reason to keep watching. We expect careful decisions about structure, pacing, visual composition, and the purpose of each sequence.
You should be able to review your own work, recognise where a video loses momentum, and make improvements before submitting it. Accuracy also matters, particularly when working with financial information, charts, and figures.
We value initiative, honest feedback, and responsibility for results. You will be expected to explain your decisions, respond thoughtfully to revisions, and use what you learn from each video to improve the next one.
II. About the opportunity
Audiovisual production is central to Axtan Capital’s growth. Our content introduces new audiences to our work, develops our brands, and supports the communication of our products and partnerships.
As our projects grow, we are investing in a creative team with the skills and organisation to support a larger production operation. You will work directly with the team on recurring formats and new ideas, contributing from the review of recorded material through to publication.
There is room to influence how we edit, organise production, and develop our visual style. We want someone who takes an interest in how the finished content performs and is willing to test different approaches, learn from feedback, and keep developing their craft.
This is a full-time, office-based position at our headquarters in São João da Madeira. The role requires exclusivity, with compensation determined by your experience and demonstrated skills.
III. What you will do
Edit long-form YouTube videos and short-form content for social media.
Select and organise footage, building a clear narrative from the recorded material.
Adjust pacing, timing, and transitions to maintain viewer attention.
Add supporting visuals, captions, graphics, and animation where they help explain the subject.
Handle audio editing, sound design, colour correction, and final exports.
Adapt videos to the formats and technical requirements of each platform.
Work with the creative team to resolve missing material, unclear sequences, and production issues.
Keep project files, assets, and versions organised so work can be reviewed and handed over efficiently.
Review audience retention and other relevant performance data to identify improvements.
Manage deadlines and incorporate feedback while maintaining consistent production quality.
IV. What you will need
Professional experience in video editing and audiovisual post-production.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
A good understanding of storytelling, visual composition, pacing, and timing.
Experience editing for YouTube and social media.
Confidence working with audio, colour, captions, and motion graphics.
Creativity and attention to detail, supported by an organised approach to your work.
The ability to manage editing tasks independently and communicate clearly about progress or difficulties.
Openness to feedback and a willingness to develop your technical and creative skills.
Interest in understanding how editing decisions affect content performance.
Availability to work full-time and on-site in São João da Madeira, on an exclusive basis.
An interest in finance and investing is extremely valued. Your application should include a portfolio or showreel, with a brief explanation of your contribution to the work presented.
